Biography
Born on July 15, 1915 in the village of Podstavki , now the Lipovodolinsky district of the Sumy region in a poor peasant family. Ukrainian. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1941 . He graduated from the 7 classes of Podolyanskaya secondary school, and in 1935 Malovistoropsky agricultural technical school. He worked as a local agronomist in Lipovodolinskaya MTS.
From 1937 to 1940 he served in the Red Army . Then he was sent to courses of political personnel.
Great Patriotic War
He went to the front in 1941. He was a political worker, battalion commander, deputy brigade commander. He fought on the Western , South-Western , 2nd Ukrainian , Trans-Baikal fronts. He was wounded and contused.
The troops of the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts launched a huge-scale Yassy-Kishinev operation against the German fascist invaders. The enemy carefully prepared the defense, created powerful fortifications with several lines of reinforced concrete pillboxes. In the area between the Prut and the Seret a defensive line stretched to a depth of 80 kilometers.
On August 20, 1944, Soviet troops struck a powerful blow near the city of Iasi . Courage and bravery in these battles were shown by fighters of divisions of the 45th mechanized Dniester brigade, which also included the 3rd motorized rifle battalion of the major Avramenko’s guards. In cooperation with the tanks, the battalion broke through the second line of defense of the enemy and ensured the successful advance of the corps units. The fighters with their commander on the tanks first broke into the village of Vaslui and knocked the Nazis out of it.
Near the village of Lupesht, the enemy concentrated considerable forces to deliver a counterattack against the advancing troops. Inspired by the decisive and courageous actions of the battalion commander, the soldiers, in cooperation with the 1st motorized rifle battalion and tanks, defeated the fascist grouping.
During the period of the Iasi-Kishinev operation, the 3rd motorized rifle battalion destroyed a large number of personnel and equipment of the enemy, captured about 300 soldiers and officers.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945, for successfully fulfilling the tasks of the command, skillful leadership of the battalion, personal courage and courage shown in the battles during the Yassko-Kishinev operation, guards Major Avramenko Peter Nikitovich awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and Gold Star Medals (No. 4777).
On August 31, 1944, the motorized rifle battalion under the command of Avramenko, together with other units and formations, entered Bucharest . He fought on the territory of Hungary , Czechoslovakia , liberated Prague .
June 24, 1945 participated in the Victory Parade in Moscow on Red Square .
Military action in China
As deputy brigade commander in the 6th Guards Tank Army , he participated in the storming of the Great Khingan Range, in defeating the Kwantung Army in Manchuria .
On August 19, 1945, he led the landing of an airborne landing in the region of Changchun . Avramenko's paratroopers successfully completed their combat mission. They occupied the railway junction, bank, post office, radio station, telegraph. Before the arrival of the main forces in the city, 40 thousand soldiers and officers, 17 generals, had already been disarmed there. On the morning of August 20, the advance units of the 6th Guards Tank Army arrived in Changchun. On the same day, Avramenko was appointed the first Soviet commandant in Changchun.

“By 11 o'clock on August 19, the entire landing force headed by the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major P.N Avramenko, landed at the Changchun Central Aerodrome. It consisted of officers and fighters of the 30th Guards Mehbrigade. The paratroopers removed the airfield of the enemy, occupied the all-round defense and began to disarm the Japanese-Manchu troops. In the evening, the Japanese flag was lowered over the headquarters of the Kwantung Army and the Soviet flag was raised ... ”
After the war
He continued service in the Soviet Army. In 1956 he graduated from the highest officer school. In 1975 he retired.
He lived in Moscow. He worked in the field of public utilities, was the director of the hotel. Repeatedly elected deputy of the Kuibyshev and Sokolnichesky District Councils. Since August 1981 - on a well-deserved rest.
He died on January 5, 2003 . He was buried at the St. Nicholas Archangel Cemetery .
