On the night of September 28, 1943, as part of the department, he crossed to the right bank with the first echelon. Participating in the battle on the captured bridgehead, Avramenko by personal example carried the fighters of his unit to the successful completion of the combat mission. Assessing the current combat situation, he made his way to the enemy’s trench and destroyed the machine-gun point, which prevented the advancement of our troops, and threw grenades at the dugouts. At the same time, ten Nazis were destroyed, and three were captured.
On October 2, 1943, the enemy threw tanks into battle and attacked units of the regiment. The left flank was threatened by the environment. Avramenko, dragging the fighters behind him, moved forward.
