DubaiSat-1

DubaiSat-1 ( English DubaiSat-1 ) is a satellite for remote sensing of the Earth , manufactured by order of the National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology ( EIAST ) ( UAE ) by the South Korean company Satrec Initiative , designed to monitor climatic phenomena and the environment. The satellite was launched on July 29, 2009 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome using the Dnepr launch vehicle . At the same time, five satellites were put into orbit - the Spanish NanoSat-1B and Deimos-1 , the American satellites AprizeSat-3 and 4, and the British satellite UK DMC-2 .

Design and specifications

DubaiSat-1 was created on the basis of the SI-200 platform , its mass is about 190 kg. The device has the shape of a hexagonal prism. Three-axis stabilization system.

Features

  • Weight - 190-200 kg
  • The maximum diameter is 1.2 m.
  • Height - 1.35 m
  • The manufacturing cost is $ 49.3 million.
  • The term of active existence is 5 years.

Equipment

To carry out its immediate duties, it is mounted on DMAC optoelectronic equipment (from the English DubaiSat Medium-sized Aperture Camera ), which allows the satellite to operate in two modes: panchromatic (black and white) with a resolution of 2.5 meters and multispectral (color) ) with a resolution of 5 meters. SRM space radiation monitor for measuring the total dose of ionizing radiation.

Power System

To power the satellite systems, three solar panels are mounted on it, which produce up to 360 W , and a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery . It is assumed that by the end of its life the battery assembly will have a capacity of 14.4 Ah
