Kpalime [1] ( fr. Kpalimé ; until 1974 Palim , fr. Palimé ) is a city in Togo . Kpalime is one of Togo's largest cities and an important agricultural and transport center. In the pre-colonial period, it was known as the Agome Palim [2] .

Content
History
Since ancient times, the Ewe people have lived on the territory of the present city. In 1855-1914, the city was ruled by the Germans, in 1914 - 1919 - the British, in 1919 - 1960 - the French.
Geography
The city of Kpalime is located in the extreme south-west of the country, near the border with Ghana , in the Plateau region. It is the administrative center of Kluto Prefecture.
The distance between Kpalime and the capital of Lome is 110 km [3] . The climate in Kpalim is mild and mountainous.
To the southeast of the city is Bauman Peak - the highest point of Togo.

Population
The population is 75,084 people (2010). According to 2013 estimates, the city population was 83,606 people [4] . In the city of Kpalim and its environs, mainly representatives of the Ewe people live .
Infrastructure
Kpalime is the center of the agricultural region, known for plantations of coffee and cocoa beans, other crops (corn, cassava). It is also a large regional trade center [3] (fabrics, vegetables and fruits, etc.).
The city of Kpalime is connected with the capital of the country by road and rail.
Attractions
- The Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit ( 1913 ), built by the German colonial authorities. In 2003 it was restored.
- The remains of the old railway Lome - Kpalime and the former station, built in 1907 in honor of the birthday of the German emperor .
- Cemetery, preserved from the time of the German colonial authorities.
