Andrei Brilli , Debrilli , Debrilly or de Brilli , also Andrei de Bryli , Andrei Frantsevich Bryl [1] [2] (Brilly;? - 1746 or 1747) -) - engineer, lieutenant general of Russian service, Italian origin.
He was originally from Italy, where he received an education. Originally served as an engineer in France , then in Sweden ; from there he moved to Prussia , intending to join the service there; but in 1701, at the suggestion of the Russian ambassador to the Danish court Izmailov, whom he met in Berlin , went to Moscow , where he was examined by engineer General Lambert and was certified as a "decent and skillful" engineer captain [3] . By 1725, he had already reached the rank of major general .
In Russia, he was among the few most knowledgeable engineers and enjoyed the favor of Peter the Great, who trusted his knowledge.
In 1731 he acted during the re-formation and settlement of the Ukrainian landmilitia , and in 1736 - 1739 he participated under the command of field marshal Minikh and Lassi in the war against the Turks and the Crimean Tatars. In 1741 Brilli was promoted to lieutenant general, and on August 30, 1744 he was granted the Order of St.. Alexander Nevsky [2] .
He died in 1746 (according to other sources - in 1747 ) retired.
