Biography
Born in the village of Ploskaya, now the Bogorodsky district of the Kirov region, into a peasant family. Since 1939 he lived and worked as a team leader at the Victory state farm in the village of Ust-Strelina in the Topkinsky district . In 1941 he was drafted into the army and sent to the Novosibirsk Military Infantry School . Since July 1942, he fought as a company commander, deputy battalion commander in the Transcaucasian, North Caucasian, 1st and 3rd Belorussian, 1st Ukrainian fronts.
Feat
On April 30, 1945, the deputy commander of the battalion of the 265th Infantry Regiment of the 20th Infantry Division, Captain Shubnikov A.P. supervised the capture of Forkenbek Street in Berlin , a number of quarters of which were turned into an enemy stronghold with a highly fortified system of pillboxes and bunkers . Skillfully bypassing the fortified area with two companies , A.P. Shubnikov boldly led the battalion into the attack. About five hundred German soldiers were captured. When a melee ensued at the approaches to one of the buildings, Captain Shubnikov destroyed 8 Hitlerites with his personal weapons, and a machine gun, which prevented advancement, was destroyed by hand grenades. The rapid mastery of the fortified area contributed to the successful advancement of neighboring units in the center of Berlin.
Hero of the Soviet Union
On June 27, 1945, Alexander Pavlovich Shubnikov for the courage and heroism shown during the storming of Berlin, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 6235).
Postwar Biography
In 1945, Major Shubnikov retired. He lived in the city of Kemerovo . He worked in the regional department of labor reserves, for more than twenty years - in the internal affairs bodies. He died on November 10, 1984 .

Perpetuation of memory
Streets bear the name of the Hero in the village of Ukhtym, Bogorodsky District, and the village of Bogorodskoye ( Kirov Region ).
