Name Origin

Lane called Bezymyanny, later named after Lobkovsky by the name of one of the homeowners. In 1961, the lane was renamed Makarenko Street in honor of Anton Semenovich Makarenko (1888-1939), a teacher, writer, and organizer of the re-education of child offenders in labor colonies.

Description

Makarenko Street starts from the outside of Chistoprudny Boulevard, passes to the northeast, Zhukovsky Street adjoins to its left, and ends on Chaplygin Street.

Buildings and Structures

Odd side

  • No. 1/19 - Children's Library No. 6 of the Central Administrative District. The Soviet inventor S. S. Ilyin and the artist S. I. Markin lived in this house.
  • No. 5/16 - The I. I. Fidler School was built according to the project of S. S. Eibushits in 1898, expanded on the left side in 1901 by the architect K. K. Gippius . After 1905, the real school of N. G. Bazhanov was located here. In Soviet times, school number 40 was located here; now the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences.

On the even side

  • No. 2 - the apartment building of M.N. Terentyev (1887, architect A.E. Erichson ). Currently, the Institute of Psychology and Psychoanalysis at Chistye Prudy.
  • No. 4, p. 1 - apartment building (1904, architect S.K. Troparevsky ), currently - the Center for Creative Initiatives "Perspective".
  • No. 6 - apartment building (1894, architect S.K. Troparevsky ).
  • No. 8 - the residential building of the Osnova cooperative (1926, architect A. I. Rzhepishevsky ) [1] .
  • No. 10 (No. 20 on Chaplygin St. ) - Mosazervinzavod.
  • No. 10 (No. 20 p. 3 on Chaplygin St. ) is a two-story house of the 1st third of the 19th century with a rusticated lower floor. According to local historian A.V. Mozhaev - β€œa post-fire house, of the last unspoiled (in recent years, the same ones were demolished on Khokhlovskaya Square and in Znamensky Lane, built on and mutilated in Belgorod passage ). From the listed relatives he is distinguished by the presence of very powerful arches in the lower floor. ” It was demolished in early April 2016 under the pretext of repairing the roof by the contractor LLC Arkom-stroj (the customer is LLC PIK Weimar-Development ).
