Distribution and Ecology
It occurs in the Caucasus . Endemic . Described from Armenia , from Lake Sevan .
It grows on the steppe mountain slopes.
Botanical Description
The rhizome is curved, with numerous thin roots.
Stems 20-40 cm tall, numerous, curved, purple.
The lower leaves are ovate, blunt, 2.5-3 cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, on fairly long petioles; bracts - ovoid-elliptical, large dentate, narrowed to the base, short petiolate or sessile, light green above, wrinkled below.
Inflorescence from numerous false 10-12- flower whorls ; bracts subulate, straight, almost equal to calyx; a cup with five straight awl-shaped teeth, 3-4 times shorter than the tube; corolla lilac, strongly protruding from the cup.
Nuts obovate, dark brown, finely tuberous.
