Welsh genealogical lists of saints considered St. Maitley the son of Karadog from Tegai Airvron. Thus, he was the brother of Saints Kadwarch , Kaurdav and Tangun, and belonged to the fifth generation of saints - the descendants of Coel the Old [1] . In later sources, the name of the saint is given in the spelling Amaethlu, however, the first letter in this version is the Welsh union .
It is said that Maitley was a saint in the town of Carnedor on the island of Anglesey, which also has his resting place. It is considered the patron saint of Llanvaitli , whose parish is also named in his honor. There he erected a temple that bears his name.
The ancient calendars of the saints did not save the day of worship of Maitley, however, Brown Willis, an antique dealer and historian of the church of the XVIII century, cites the date - December 26.
