Horn County (name variations: Horne , Horn , Hoorn , Hoorne ) - the county of the Holy Roman Empire that existed on the territory of modern Netherlands and Belgium . The name of the county comes from the village of Gorn, located west of Roermond . In the 15th century, the residence of the Earls of Horn moved from Horn to Werth . After the execution in 1568 of the last Earl of Horn - Philippe de Montmorency - the county entered into a personal union with the bishopric of Liege .
