History
The 163rd German Infantry Division was formed on November 18, 1939 in the Dallgow-Doberitz area .
In April 1940, the division was baptized during the invasion of Norway , landing in Oslo , Kristiansand , Arendal , and Stavanger . After that, the union remained to perform occupation functions in Norway until June 1941.
By the beginning of the operation, Barbarossa was in the reserve of the Finnish Karelian army and was used to support operations on the Svir River .
In February 1942, the division became part of the 36th mountain corps near Kandalaksha , and was stationed there until Finland left the war in 1944. In the fall of 1944, she was taken to Norway.
In early 1945, she was transferred to Germany, becoming a reserve in Berlin. Destroyed by the Soviet army in Pomerania in March 1945.
