Anden (Belgium)

Anden ( Wallon. Andene , FR. Andenne ) is a city and commune in Belgium ( Walloon region), in the province of Namur . As of January 1, 2006, the population of Anden was 25,240. Area - 86.17 km². The population density is 292 people / km². The city and the commune are located on the banks of the Meuse River . In the district there are villages: Bonville, Kutis, Landen, Mayseret, Namece, Skline, Sales, Ton Samson, Vezin. The bear, from the legend of Karl Martell , who, as a child, killed the bear terrorizing the inhabitants with a hammer, became a symbol of the city.
