Biography
In 1583, at the age of 16, Edmund Jennings converted to Catholicism , and then immediately went to an English college located in Reims , France . In 1590, after graduating from college, he was ordained a priest and went to England , where he was going to engage in underground pastoral activities, which was associated with significant dangers, since the activities of the Catholic Church in England were prohibited by law and its followers were persecuted.
On November 7, 1591, he was arrested along with Polydor Plasden during the service of the Holy Mass and sentenced to death, which was committed by a quartering on December 10, 1591. Another Catholic martyr, Svitun Wells, was also executed by hanging. The courageous death of Edmund Jennings made a strong impression on his younger brother John, who subsequently converted to Catholicism and wrote a biography of his older brother, which was published in 1614.
