The early years
Zoe Saldana was born in New Jersey into a Dominican and Puerto Rican family. Zoe has Lebanese , Irish , Jamaican and Indian roots. Zoe speaks two languages equally well - Spanish and English . She spent most of her early childhood in Queens, New York . After her father died in a car accident when she was 9 years old [1] , she moved with her mother to the Dominican Republic . Saldana entered one of the most prestigious dance schools in the Dominican Republic, where she studied ballet and modern Latin American dances [2] . After leaving school, her family moved back to Queens .
In 1995, she began performing with the Faces theater troupe in Brooklyn [3] , which touched on topics close to teens, such as drug addiction and teenage sexuality . At the same time, she performed at the New York Youth Theater, which led to her being invited to an acting agency. A talent for dancing and acting helped Zoe get her first role on the big screen - she played the talented ballerina Eve in the movie " Stage Stage " ( Eng. Center Stage ) in 2000.
Career
Saldana was still a member of Faces when she got a role in an episode of Law & Order (an episode of Merger that aired in 1999). She left school after the release of the movie "The Stage Scene", the role in this film led to the continuation of her career. In 2002, she appears in the melodrama Crossroads , where she plays with Britney Spears , and in the film Drum Roll. In 2003, Zoe played the pirate Anna Maria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl . In 2004, she appeared in Steven Spielberg 's Terminal and the harbor thriller. In 2005, she starred in the romantic comedy Guess Who? »With Ashton Kutcher .
In the film Star Trek (2009) and his sequel Star Trek: Retribution (2013), Zoe Saldana played the young Uhura [4] . In the same year, she played Neytiri , Princess Na'vi , in the " Avatar " by James Cameron .

In June 2010, Saldana became engaged to actor and entrepreneur Keith Britton [9] . In November 2011, Saldana and Britton announced their separation after 11 years of relationship. [10]
In March 2013, Saldana began dating Italian artist Marco Perego. They secretly married in June 2013 in London [11] [12] . In July 2015, Saldana said that Perego, contrary to tradition, took her last name after the wedding. Thus, Zoe became Zoe Saldana-Perego, and Marco - Marco Perego-Saldana [13] . They have three sons - the twins Aridio Perego-Saldana and Bowie Ezio Perego-Saldana (born November 27, 2014) [14] and Zen Perego-Saldana (born 2017) [15] .
