This object is one of those listed in the original edition of the New General Catalog .
Together with two slightly brighter galaxies, NGC 1006 (spiral with a jumper) and NGC 1011 (elliptical) makes up a triplet [1] , called SSSG 9. The triplet is physical (that is, the galaxies are located close to each other, and are not just randomly projected into close points of the celestial sphere), since their redshift is almost the same.
Content
Observability
The galaxy can be observed in fairly high-quality amateur telescopes in all areas of the globe, except for the northern near-polar regions, where it is always below the horizon. It is visible from the end of June (in the west after sunset) to mid-March (in the east before sunrise), the best time for observation is November, except for the southern polar regions, where polar day or white nights last.
