Bicycle tamers

Robert Alas and Leo Valik after graduation come to the new place of employment by distribution. Robert to school, and Leo to the zoo. A house for young professionals will not be built until next year, so for the first time one found shelter in the office of the school principal, and the second one next to the lions, one of which Leo successfully heals.

Their first acquaintance is Rita Laur, an enthusiastic inventor who invented a new bicycle model. Robert, a good cyclist, winner of many races in his native Tartu, became interested in Rita’s invention. Champion of the Republic Karl Glaser takes care of the girl and inevitable rivalry arises between young people.

To participate in the Tallinn-Riga race, the bicycle factory team put up both athletes. There weren’t anyone interested in Rita’s new bike, and Leo offers his help. Rita is confident that he is also a cyclist, although in reality he is a master of sports in chess.

Georg Sibul, a veteran of cycling, should take part in the race outside the competition, but Leo entered the start under his name. For Rita, this was the only opportunity to try out his invention in business. Having sat behind the wheel for the first time a few days ago, a talented newcomer demonstrated the wonders of a workshop and, following the results of the first day of the competition, became the leader.

During a vacation, an angry Sibul appears in the athletes' camp, wanting revenge on the impostor. Leo hides from his pursuer and ends up at a pig farm, where he helps the young livestock specialist Inge to take offspring from a thoroughbred sow.

The next morning, having changed into a T-shirt at number twenty-three, Rita herself was forced to continue the race. On one of the turns, both leaders - Robert and Karl - fall into the rubble. Rita, having thought, gives her bicycle to Karl and is left alone with Robert, who received the girl’s heart as a reward.
