History
It has been published since March 1917 (originally the newspaper was called "News of the Smolensk Council of Workers 'and Soldiers' Deputies").
Occupation
The issue did not stop during the occupation of the Smolensk region by fascist troops in 1941-1943 , the newspaper was printed in Moscow and distributed from the air. During the occupation, the former editor of the newspaper “Work Way” [2] , writer and professional journalist K. A. Dolgonenkov went over to the Germans and published the newspaper “ New Way ” [3] , in response to this, according to historian I. B. Krasilnikov [4] , the pro-Soviet "Work Path" specifically devoted a number of articles to counter-propaganda directed against the "New Way" and personally Dolgonenkov and Menshagin . On the example of competition between the newspapers Work Way and New Way in wartime, the historian Krasilnikov in his work proved how important periodicals were in the occupied territory of the USSR during World War II .
