Biography

Born May 27, 1864.

He received his primary education at the Yelisavetgrad military gymnasium and on August 28, 1880 entered the Kiev infantry cadet school , from which he was promoted to ensign in the 11th infantry battalion on April 22, 1884, and promoted to lieutenant on August 30 of the same year; He subsequently received the ranks of lieutenant (August 30, 1888) and staff captain (March 15, 1896). Then he was transferred to the 12th East Siberian Rifle Regiment .

On January 23, 1900, Gembitsky was promoted to captain (for excellence in service) and, commanding the 3rd company of the 12th East Siberian Regiment, was in the Tianjin garrison and took part in the defense of the city against boxers . Commanding a combined detachment of Russian riflemen and French artillerymen and sailors (about 100 people in total), he kept an outpost at Junlyancheng station for a week. For distinction, he was awarded the orders of St. Stanislav 2nd degree with swords (in 1900), St. 3rd degree Anne with swords and st. 4th degree Vladimir with swords and bow (both in 1901).

At the end of the war in China, on July 2, 1903, Gembitsky was transferred to the 202nd reserve Starobelsky battalion. July 18, 1904 transferred to the 270th Kupyansky Infantry Regiment. February 26, 1905 promoted to lieutenant colonel. July 14, 1906 transferred to the 202nd infantry reserve Starobelsky regiment. March 28, 1909 was transferred to the 19th Kostroma Infantry Regiment. March 17, 1911 was promoted to colonel with the transfer to the 18th Vologda Infantry Regiment to the post of battalion commander.

With the outbreak of World War I, Gembitsky was appointed commander of the 230th infantry Novograd-Volyn regiment and was wounded in early 1915. By the highest order of May 22, 1915, Gembitsky was awarded the Order of St. George 4th degree.

After treatment, on August 25, 1915, he was removed from his post and was in the reserve of ranks at the headquarters of the Kiev military district . July 12, 1916 was promoted to major general . Since July 19, 1916 he was an assistant to the chief of the 31st Infantry Reserve Brigade. From January 3, 1917, Gembitsky held the post of chief of the 14th Infantry Reserve Brigade, and from May 12, he was in the reserve of ranks of the headquarters of the Kazan Military District . October 27, 1917 was promoted to lieutenant general with dismissal from service due to illness with a uniform and pension.

After the formation of the Volunteer Army, Gembitsky joined the white movement and served in the Armed Forces of the South of Russia , was in the reserve of ranks of the Kiev region.

After the defeat of the white parts in Ukraine, Gembitsky emigrated to Greece , lived in Thessaloniki , where he died on September 11, 1921.
