Company History [1]

In 1819, the predecessor of the modern company, Demag Cranes & Components GmbH, was founded under the name “Mechanische Werkstätten Harkort & Co.” in Wetter .

In 1906, the forerunner of the modern Gottwald Port Technology GmbH was founded under the name Maschinenfabrik Ernst Halbach AG in Düsseldorf .

In 1988, Leo Gottwald KG was acquired by the German industrial conglomerate Mannesmann AG and integrated into Mannesmann Demag AG.

In 1992, during the restructuring of the Mannesmann Demag Group, the company Mannesmann Demag Fördertechnik AG was headquartered with headquarters in Vetter .

In 1996, Mannesmann Demag Fördertechnik AG acquired the Duisburg- based mobile crane division from Mannesmann Demag AG.

In 1997, Mannesmann Demag Fördertechnik AG changed its name to Mannesmann Dematic AG.

In 2000, Mannesmann Dematic became part of Atecs Mannesmann AG . Later, the company “Demag Cranes & Components GmbH” is formed. As part of the acquisition of Mannesmann AG by the British telecommunications operator Vodafone , a pool of investors, which includes Siemens AG and Robert Bosch GmbH, is being acquired by Atecs Mannesmann. The Atecs Mannesmann AG engineering and engineering division, which at that time included Demag Cranes, becomes the property of Siemens.

In 2002, Demag Cranes & Components GmbH and Gottwald Port Technology GmbH were acquired by Demag Holding S.à rl (Luxembourg), the main shareholders of which were the private investment fund KKR (81% of the shares) and Siemens AG ”(19% of the shares).

In 2006, the assets of Demag Cranes & Components GmbH and Gottwald Port Technology GmbH were consolidated into Demag Cranes AG and an IPO was issued on June 23, 2006. The Demag Holding S.à.rl holding has been disbanded.
