History

The village arose during the industrial revival of the 1880s and was part of the Kisorichsky volost of the Ovruch district of the Volyn province .

Until 1922, the village was known as Okhotnikovo , which came from the name of the landowner, from whom Rosenberg, a Belgian glassmaker of Jewish origin , bought a small area of quartz sand suitable for glassmaking in 1888 , and opened a primitive glassblowing workshop here.

The impetus for the rapid development of the village was the construction at the beginning of 1900 of the Kiev - Kovel railway line, which passed through the village, and the Rokitnoye railway station was built here.

During the Soviet-Polish war, Okhotnikovo was occupied by Polish troops and it was included in the Volyn Voivodeship of Poland. In 1922, the village was renamed Rokitno, and the railway station became known as Rokitno-Volynskoye. In 1927 - 1939 Rokytne was a city [2] .

In September 1939, Rokytnoe as part of Western Ukraine became part of the USSR .

In 1940, the Rokytnivskyi district was formed and the settlement received the status of an urban-type settlement. Polyakov worked as the head of the executive committee of the district council of workers' deputies, and Zak worked as head of the village council.

During the Great Patriotic War from July 15, 1941 to January 4, 1944, the village was under German occupation .

In 1955, a glass factory , an oil factory, a timber industry farm, a chemical forest farm, a secondary school and a regional MTS were operating here [3] .

In 1974, a woodworking plant, a glass factory, a stone crushing plant and a medical school functioned here [4] .

In April 1986, the village suffered from the consequences of the Chernobyl accident (belongs to the third category of settlements affected by this disaster).

In January 1989, the population was7182 people [5] .

In May 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the decision to privatize the glassworks located here [6] , ATP -1326, agricultural equipment and a quarry [7] .

As of January 1, 2013, the population was 6789 people [8] .
