Angola participated in the nine summer Olympic Games . Angola's Olympic Committee was founded on February 17, 1979 and officially recognized by the IOC in 1980. The country made its debut at the Games in Moscow in 1980 and has since taken part in all the Summer Games, except for the Games in Los Angeles in 1984 , which it missed by joining the boycott of the competition. Angola athletes did not participate in the Winter Olympics . Angola remains one of the most populous countries that has not yet managed to win at least one Olympic medal [1] .

With the exception of the Moscow Games, the Angolan team almost always participates in team competitions in basketball and handball. The largest Angolan delegation was represented at the 2012 Games in London, when 34 athletes from six sports entered the national team to participate in the Games.
