Biography
In the years 1918-1920. Studied at the Moscow Drama Studio of Evgeny Vakhtangov .
In 1920-1970 served in the Theater. Evg. Vakhtangov .
Since 1926, together with his wife, actress of the same theater V.K. Lvov , he conducted pedagogical work at the Theater School. B.V.Schukina (associate professor since 1946). Among their students are many famous and popular artists who worked in various theaters and cinemas: Rolan Bykov , Leonid Filatov , Vladimir Shiryaev , Valery Babyatinsky and many others.
Shikhmatov and Lvov belonged to the old Vakhtangov cohort, held together by a single large creative family, always helping each other out. According to the recollections of their housemate Anna Mass , when the theater actress Valentina Vagrina returned from exile (she was arrested as the wife of the “enemy of the people” of the head of the V / O Glavkhimplastmass People’s Commissariat of Heavy Industry of the USSR David Kolmanovsky - was shot in 1937, rehabilitated posthumously in 1989), which was left without housing and Moscow registration, the theater administration immediately found an opportunity to contact the authorities and return the residence permit to it, while Shikhmatov and Lvov offered housing, providing a room in their apartment [2] .
