Geography
The district was located in the southern part of the Vladimir province . Bordered by the Vladimir district in the north, Murom in the east, the Ryazan province in the south and the Moscow province in the west. It covers an area of 4,064 km² .
History
The district was formed by a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee dated August 23, 1926 as part of the Vladimir province of the RSFSR . It consisted of parts of the territories of the abolished Sudogodsky and Melenkovsky counties, as well as part of the territory of the Kasimov district of the Ryazan province . In 1929, it was transformed into the Gus-Khrustalny district as part of the Vladimir district of the newly formed Ivanovo Industrial Region .
