Alpine munia [1] ( lat. Lonchura monticola ) is a bird of the family finch weavers of the order Passeriformes .

Content
AppearanceMale and female have black forehead and crown. The black color at the back of the head turns into black-brown, and then into a dark chestnut-brown. The throat and plumage on the sides of the head are brown-black. Upper tail, upper tail coverts and most of the helmsmen are yellow. The remaining steering brown with a narrow yellow border. The upper chest is white with faint brown spots, separated from the pure white lower body by a saturated black transverse stripe. On the sides are large black transverse stripes and spots. Black lower tail coverts sometimes have white tips. Shins are black. The iris is brown, the beak is bluish, the legs are bluish-gray.
DistributionThey live in the mountainous part of the southeast of New Guinea .
LifestyleInhabit subalpine grassy meadows at an altitude of 2800 to 3900 m above sea level. They feed on grass seeds, mainly in a half-mature state, since, due to the climate in plants, the vegetation period in those places lasts almost all year round. The ecology of birds has not been studied enough and there is no other information about their life in nature.
ReproductionBirds nest at any time of the year.
