Horse endings - with the presence, in addition to kings, of only horses and pawns. The theory of the endgame mainly explores 2 simple types of horse endings that are of practical importance:
1) the horse is only on one side (the horse against pawns);
2) on each side of the knight (in the presence of pawns).
At the end of the 1st type, 3, and often 2 passed pawns can be stronger than the knight. The most dangerous passing pawn for the knight is the last one. In the fight against pawns, the horse shows an important property - to put "barriers" in the path of the enemy king.
In endings of the 2nd type, an extra pawn, ceteris paribus, provides, as a rule, a win.

After 1.Kpc2 a3 2.Ке3! Black cannot move the king through the d line, since this leads to the loss of a pawn.
For example: 2. ... Kb7 3.Kg4 Krs6 4.Ke5 + Kpd5 (4. ... Kpd6 5.Kf7 +)
5.Kf3! g4 6.Kh2 g3 7.Kf1 g2 8.Ke3 + and, taking the pawn, White reaches a draw.
