Design
Hyundai ix55 is built on the platform of the popular mid-size crossover Hyundai Santa Fe , however, it has a wheelbase increased by 100 mm (up to 2805 mm), due to which the designers have the opportunity to install the third row of seats and make the crossover seven-seater. Hyundai took about $ 222 million and 26 months to develop a car. The basic configuration of the Hyundai ix55 includes many elements that other similar vehicles have as options, for example, dual - zone climate control and rear seat heating.
Engines available on the Russian market are a V-shaped 6-cylinder gasoline unit with a volume of 3778 cc and a power of 264 hp. at 6000 rpm and a 3-liter diesel V6 rated at 239 hp at 3800 rpm. The only gearbox offered is the Shiftronic 6-speed automatic transmission , developed with the assistance of Japanese Aisin specialists.
The front suspension of the Hyundai ix55 is made on MacPherson struts, the rear is a multi-link design. The brakes on all crossover wheels are disc brakes. All-wheel drive in the Hyundai ix55 is made according to an electronic-connected circuit (Haldex multi-plate clutch [1] [2] ).
