Specifications
The game engine LS3D engine is cross-platform software and supports the following platforms: personal computer running Windows , Xbox and PlayStation 2 game consoles ; refers to the type of subroutine software ( English middleware ), representing a bundle of several components, such as a graphics engine , a physics engine , a sound engine , etc. The engine supports the processing of both open ( eng. Outdoor ) large size and closed ( eng. Indoor) spaces. In the most famous game based on it - Mafia , the location (city) is a very large space, technically divided into sections, which are smoothly loaded as you move through the player’s terrain - thus creating the illusion of "seamlessness" of the world, just as This is done in some games on the RenderWare engine.
In addition to the rather complicated geometry at the time of its release, the engine is capable of processing high-resolution textures . Dynamic shadows are supported (in the game, Mafia is used to display people and cars), as well as pre-calculated shadow maps that can be used to simulate shadows cast by surrounding objects in a location — for example, buildings or trees. Light sources can be both dynamic and static ( lightmaps ).
For drawing the sky, the background is used - background texture; the sun is also a source of lighting and can give off glare to a virtual camera. In addition, the engine supports the reproduction of various weather conditions, such as rain or thunderstorms .
The physics engine mimics the model of vehicle behavior and also supports collision physics (when crashing into some minor objects in a location on a car, for example, a phone booth or a trash can, objects fly off or crash).
