Amara fortis

Amara fortis (lat.) Is a species of dingy beetles from the family of ground beetles of the harpaline subfamily and the monotypic subgenus Neopercosia [1] . The view is described by John Leconte from specimens compiled by [2] .

Amara fortis LeConte,, 1880

Description

Body length 10-12 mm. The color of the upper body, antennae and legs varies from red-brown to black-brown. The head is very flattened, smooth with two postorbital fossae. Antennae with elongated segments reach posterior margin of pronotum. Platband slightly swollen. The prothorax in males is almost smooth with several points in the center. The occiput is reduced. Pronotum about 1.69-1.8 times wider than head, with strongly rounded edges. The process of the prothorax is well pronounced, with 4-6 setae. Elytra ribbed. The wings are short and wide. Endofallus without sclerotized structures, parameres (lateral processes) of the edeagus without a hook at the end, as is typical for representatives of the subgenus Percosia [2] . They are not able to fly. Information on the biological characteristics of this species is absent [3] . Known only by specimens from the vicinity of the cities of Waco and Dallas in Texas ( USA ) [2] .
