Comacina ( Italian: Isola Comacina ) is an island in Italy in the province of Lombardy on Lake Como . The island is located opposite the settlements of Ossuccio and Sala Comachina . The island is open for tourists. From Menaggio to the island ships go.

The dimensions of the island of Comachina reach a kilometer in length and an average of 500 meters in width.
In 1919, the King of Belgium Albert I received the island as a gift from the mayor of the commune of Sala Comachina. For a year, the island became an enclave under the sovereignty of Belgium. In 1920, Komachina was returned to the Italian state on the condition that a colony of artists and other artists would be located there [1] .
In honor of Comachina, the asteroid (489) of Comachin was discovered, discovered in 1902 by the Italian astronomer Luigi Carner .
