NGC 87 is a low-mass irregular galaxy resembling a satellite of the Milky Way - the Large Magellanic Cloud . Like most irregular galaxies, NGC 87 does not have a clear structure and core. Due to the presence of more than 50 regions of intense star formation, the galaxy has a blue color. [1] In 1994, a flare of a supernova of the second type was detected in the galaxy, which had, at the moment of detection, a brightness of +14.6 m - SN 1994Z. [2]
