John Robb is an authoritative music critic who has collaborated with major British publications: NME , Melody Maker and Sounds . It is believed that it was Robb who “discovered” Nirvana for Britain; in any case, it was he who, after the first single of the group, flew to Seattle , interviewed then-unknown Kurt Cobain and drew the attention of his colleagues to the new group, reviewing its first release as Single of the Week. [3]
As a studio producer, Robb recorded Slinky , Therapy? and Cornershop : with the latter, he also collaborated as a manager.
Robb’s last two books, Death To Trad Rock (2009), on Britain’s underground rock scene in the mid-1980s, and “The North Will Still Rise.” Music of Manchester, 1976-1996 "( eng. The North Will Rise Again. Manchester Music City from 1976 to 1996 , 2009) received critical acclaim (4/5 - Q , 5/5 - Mojo ).
