NGC 1 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pegasus . It is located 190 million light years from Earth. The diameter of the galaxy is approximately 90,000 St. years , which is slightly less than ours . It was discovered by German astronomer Heinrich Louis D'Array on September 30, 1861.

The galaxy is the first object of the New General Catalog [5] . The cataloging ( era J1860.0) went in right ascension [6] , starting from the lowest. Since then, the coordinates have shifted, and the galaxy now has not the lowest right ascension among the objects listed in NGC [7] .
