Biography
Born on April 26 ( May 9 ), 1904, in the village of Verkhnyaya Gora (now the Kirillovsky District , Vologda Region ). Nikolay's father, Vasily Firsovich Razin, was an accordion master. Nikolai graduated from high school, entered the Vologda Institute of National Education in 1921 , and a year later he moved to the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute , which he graduated in 1928 .
During his studies, Razin took part in the design of dams, since specialized state design organizations did not exist in the USSR at that time. After graduating from the Institute in March 1928, he was appointed Chief Engineer of the Kama-Pechora Waterway Bureau, participated in the development and examination of projects on the Big Volga, Bolshoi Dnepr, Volga-Don problems, in the sessions of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the Volga-Caspian and Altai.
In April 1929, Nikolai Razin married Zinaida Alekseevna, they had three children - Catherine ( 1930 ), Vladimir ( 1935 ) and Olga ( 1940 ).
In the late 1930s, Razin was appointed chief engineer of the construction of the Mstinskaya hydroelectric power station . After the start of the Great Patriotic War, he entered the disposal of the NPO of the USSR , was engaged in the construction of defensive structures near Moscow, on the Voronezh , Stalingrad and Bryansk fronts . In 1943, he was recalled from the front in the Design Bureau of S. Ya. Zhuk , according to the program to strengthen the rear, urgent construction of a hydropower station in the Urals was planned.
In 1949 he was appointed Chief Engineer of the Tsimlyanskaya HPP construction, then - Chief Engineer at the Kuybyshevgidrostroy construction and repair department at the construction of the largest hydropower station in the world - Kuybyshevskaya . I occupied one office with the construction manager Ivan Vasilyevich Komzin , every day they drove around a huge territory, supervising the construction, working 12-15 hours a day. Razin boldly applied technical innovations to construction, he deeply delved into production issues. Quickly oriented in the situation and made decisions in a critical situation. So when breaking the lintel that threatened to flood the entire construction, he took over the leadership, sending 150 machines for bringing stone, at least 100 machines for bringing clay. The catastrophe was avoided and in a day the breakthrough was eliminated. Ivan Komzin described the work of Nikolai Razin [2] :
“In order not to stay out at long desk meetings, Razin and I almost daily held a sort of“ walking meetings, ”and most often on the right bank ... We were met by the“ hosts of the shore ” A. P. Alexandrov and K. I. Smirnov . Before returning to our colleagues, we stocked up with dispatcher reports on the laying of concrete over the past 24 hours ... Alexandrov addressed Nikolai Vasilyevich: "And the promised truck cranes did not come yesterday." Razin gloomy. To say that the performers have failed? No way. After all, he promised, the chief engineer. N. V. with displeasure hid a notebook in his pocket. I knew that it listed critical remarks to the builders of the right bank. But it was clear until the builders received the promise, Razin would not take advantage of these records. Such was his rule. ”
Scientific and technical conferences of builders were held under the guidance of Razin with the participation of leading engineers of design organizations, employees of research institutes. At his suggestion, monthly and quarterly reviews on the quality of work were published, which also indicated measures to improve it.
Since 1959, he worked as chief engineer of Glavgidroenergostroy, and since 1962 - chief engineer of the Institute " Hydroproject " named after. S. Ya. Beetle. He designed the facilities of the Krasnoyarsk , Nurek , Toktogul , Inguri and other hydropower plants.
He died on July 31, 1983 . He was buried in Moscow at the Kuntsevo Cemetery .
