Barkweed ( Latin: Knáutia arvénsis ) is a species of perennial herbaceous plants of the genus Korostavnik ( Knautia ) of the subfamily Piggy ( Dipsacoideae ) of the family Honeysuckle ( Caprifoliaceae ).

Distribution
The natural range of the species is Eastern , Middle and Atlantic Europe, Ciscaucasia , the west of Western Siberia , and the west of Central Asia [2] . As an alien plant, it is found in Iran [2] .
It grows mostly in dry meadows , along the edges of forests [2] .
Biological Description
Stems , straight, often branched, hairy in the lower part, shortly pubescent in the upper part or almost naked, 30–80 cm high.
Leaves are lanceolate, hairy, lyre-shaped or pinnate, sometimes whole-edge.
Inflorescences - heads 2-3 cm in diameter, lanceolate wrapper leaves. Flowers are bluish-purple, rarely reddish or yellowish in color, the outer ones are larger.
It blooms in July, bears fruit in August.
The number of chromosomes : 2n = 16 [2] .
Economic Significance and Use
Honey bees collect field nectar from the flowers of the breeder (even in hot and dry weather) [3] .
