Sports career
- Early years
Boyana spent a quite successful junior career, reaching the quarter finals of the Grand Slam tournaments in both categories many times, as well as several times in the finals of category A tournaments in Italy [3] [4] and Brazil . [5] The peak of success was in 2008, when the existing stability of the results allowed Jovanovsky to climb to the fifth line of the classification.
In 2006, the Serbian’s first attempts to try his hand at the matches of the adult round began: the debut competition (10 thousandth in Prokuplya ) was able to start with the match won. Two years later, when participation in such tournaments became more regular, Boyana won a tournament of the same status here. In August of that year, Jovanovsky received his first adult single rating, ranking 882th in the classification. In November, another milestone is overcome: on the way to the semi-finals on the 25-thousandth in Pune, India, the Serbian for the first time defeats the current player of the Top200 single player rating (beaten by Romanian Agnesh Satmari ). Closer to the end of the year, this achievement can be improved when in the semi-final of the 50,000th man in New Delhi Boyana at that time defeated the 136th racket of the world Masha Zets-Peshkirich from Slovenia .
In 2008, the first noticeable adult success in the pair took place: Jovanovski, together with Romanian Elora Dabizha, reach the finals of the 25-thousandth in Pune , where they concede a duet from Taiwan . After a year, the results of Boyana continue to improve and she gradually rises in the classification. One of the fruits of this is the Serb’s August debut in adult Grand Slam tournaments: on the first try, Jovanovsky reaches the final of the selection, where he is inferior to the American Carly Gallikson . Soon after, in a dirt tournament in Sofia, the Serb manages to beat the player of the single classification for the first time: on the way to the quarter-finals of the local 100-thousandth, 81st racket of the world Polona Herzog from Slovenia was beaten. After this competition, Boyana first entered the Top200 in the singles ranking. A series of successful tournaments in Asia at the end of that year allows her not only to consolidate these positions, but also to begin the next year in the Top150 classification.
- 2010-12
The second attempt to qualify for the Grand Slam tournament is again unsuccessful and again Jovanovsky stops only a step away from the basics: this time, German Catherine Worle blocks her path. The points scored after this are enough to make his debut at the basis of the WTA tournament a little later - at the competitions in Kuala Lumpur . Once again, as once in the ITF , the Serb begins its participation in such tournaments with a victory. Having a relatively stable and productive season, Jovanovsky is gaining a sufficient rating to get into the main draw for the first time in his fourth Grand Slam tournament - at Wimbledon (for the first time, you did not have to play qualification). In the second half of the season, the Serb begins to achieve more and more success at the WTA competitions: in August, at a major tournament in Cincinnati , a native of Belgrade manages to defeat the Top20 player for the first time, having defeated Frenchwoman Aravan Rezai . A few months later, the first victory over the Top10 player comes - at an even larger tournament in Beijing, compatriot Elena Yankovich (No. 7 at that time) was beaten. At the end of the season, Jovanovski again successfully holds tournaments in Asia and not only gets entrenched in Rambler's Top100, but also begins the next season in the status of the 76th racket of the world.
The impulse of successful performances in the 2010 season was also transferred to the beginning of the 2011 season: Jovanovski qualifies for the semi-finals of a very strong tournament in Sydney , having beaten three Top25 players along the way and lost only to future champion Li Na . The Australian Open is not unsuccessful either: Jovanovsky goes into the second round and there, three sets, fights with the second racket of the world, Vera Zvonareva . In the future, the results are gradually declining, but the amount gained before that is enough to become one of the fifty strongest tennis players in the world in May for the first time. In the second half of the year, Boyana does not often remind herself of herself, but sometimes she still has good performances: in June, she made her way to qualifying for the second round of competitions in Eastbourne , leaving the 14th racket of the world Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova out of work . Later, the Serb makes its way to the quarter-finals of the college park tournament. Repeat last year's autumn-winter campaign fails and by February 2012 Jovanovski flies out of the first hundred. Gradually, the Serb returned to her best form: the semi-finals at the major ITF tournament in Nassau and the quarter-finals at the WTA in Copenhagen allow her to qualify for the Roland Garros main draw without participating in the qualification, as well as gain additional confidence in herself to regularly win 2- 3 matches at WTA competitions and win your first title at a similar level: having beaten American Julia Cohen in the final in Baku . Also in 2013, Boyana helped her team get to the finals of the Federation Cup , bringing Serbs two decisive victories in the quarterfinals with the Belgian national team .
- 2013
The 2013 season continued the successful series of last year's results: Jovanovsky played in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Shenzhen , reached the fourth round of the Australian Open . The rise was followed by a recession: between the Australian and French Grand Slam tournaments, the Serb won only one match, but at the turn of spring and summer, Boyana was able to improve results for a short period, having won four matches at once in a pair of tournaments in Paris and Birmingham . Summer passed again without any particular achievements: Jovanovski played only five tournaments, winning three of them in the match. The lack of playing practice forced the Serb to unscheduledly play a prize in Tashkent , having passed there from qualification to the title, having outplayed Olga Govortsova in the final of the base.
- National team and national tournaments
In 2010, the Serbian got her first chance to play for the national team, pairing Elena Jankovic in the World Group playoff match against Slovakia . [6] Boyana won one of her singles, but this was not enough for a common victory. A year later, in a match with the Canadian national team , Jovanovski was already the unconditional first number of her team, having won both singles and paired with Alexandra Krunich, bringing Serbia a decisive point. [7] In 2012, the situation almost repeated when on the second day of the match with the Belgian national team the national team was left without its then leader - Elena Yankovich . Boyana again coped with responsibility and, like a year ago, helped the national team win the meeting. [eight]
