Biography

Born December 23, 1931 in the city of Vitebsk , Belarusian SSR

Father, Samuel Kashunin, a veteran of the First World War , after the revolution, joined the Red Army . The family had three children, two sons and a daughter. They lived in the village of Krynki, Vitebsk region of the Belorussian SSR. After the start of World War II, Samuel went to the front, his wife and children were evacuated, accompanying the train with cows from a valuable breed, she was paralyzed along the way.

Settled on the farm to them. Stepan Razin, Kuibyshev region , where Boris worked as a laborer, groom, accountant for 14 years, graduated from seven classes and entered the Stavropol Zootechnical College.

In 1951 he was called up for military service in the ranks of the Soviet Army , joined the Navy, where he served for four years, and there he received secondary education . After the army he returned to Stavropol , along the Komsomol line he became head of the organizational department of the Stavropol city committee of the Komsomol , later became the second secretary of the city committee of the Komsomol.

Soon after returning from the army, he met his future wife, who was assigned to distribute the Komsomol district committee for the construction of the Kuibyshev hydroelectric station . They got married in 1956, son Eugene was born in 1957, daughter Elena in 1964.

In 1962 he graduated from the Higher Party School under the Central Committee of the CPSU . Since 1962, he worked as the head of the personnel department of the mechanization department of Kuybyshevgidrostroy , then through the party line as secretary of the party bureau of the mechanization department.

Since 1964, he worked as secretary of the party committee of the construction department “Kuibyshevgidrostroy”. He made a significant contribution to the construction and commissioning of capacities at AvtoVAZ , the Sintezkauchuk plant.

In 1969 he graduated from the Kuibyshev Planning Institute .

In 1971 he was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Togliatti Council of People's Deputies . According to eyewitnesses, Kashunin was distinguished by directness, integrity, efficiency, firmness. I personally controlled the construction of new facilities in the city, both industrial and infrastructural, as well as cultural. He carefully monitored the improvement of the city, dreaming of making Togliatti exemplary. It was highly respected by ordinary citizens.

In 1971-1977, a deputy of the Kuibyshev Regional Council of People’s Deputies, was the chairman of the Planning and Budget Commission of the Executive Committee of the Regional Council of People’s Deputies

On August 10, 1978, returning from fishing , he and his son and friend got into an accident . Boris Kashunin and the driver died on the spot, his son went to the hospital, goodbye took place on the square in front of DK SK. He was buried in Tolyatti at the Banykinsky cemetery .

Rewards

  • Order of the October Revolution (1973) - for active participation in the construction and development of design capacities of the VAZ;

Memory

  • A memorial plaque to Boris Kashunin was installed on the former building of the KGS administration (now one of the buildings of the PVGUS ).
  • In 2007, the commemorative book “Boris - Memories of a Friend” was published, author Evgeny Astakhov, Samara Afort publishing house
  • In March 2009 in Tolyatti in the center of local history of the Central library named after VN Tatishchev hosted the exhibition “Outstanding figures of Tolyatti”, among the heroes of the exhibition was Boris Kashunin. [one]
