Symbols

The image of a horse in heraldry has an extremely diverse meaning due to the fact that it exists in the most diverse geographical and national conditions.

Horses had great transport and military significance until the middle of the 19th century , so the horse acquired such colossal importance in the symbolism, emblem and heraldry of all peoples.

Udmurtia and, in particular, the Grakhovsky district are no exception. The district is multinational, where Udmurts, Russians, Chuvashs, Maris, Kryashens and others live and work peacefully, in a neighborly manner. And in all these peoples, the horse occupies an important place in the mythopoetic tradition. Grakhovsky district is also a traditional horse breeding area.

White pendant with two horse heads - symbolizes the male and female principles. The pendant, which is one of the original examples of metal plastic of the Perm animal style, symbolically connects the past, present and future of the Grakhov district.

The red Greek cross with a blade-bifurcated ends with a white border indicates the affiliation of the region of the Udmurt Republic. This ornament - “Tol Ezier” or “Shudo Kizili” - “lucky star”, is among the Udmurts a talisman against troubles and misfortunes.

White clouds symbolize divine grace.

Red color symbolizes joy, triumph, strength, courage, love, law.

Blue color - greatness, beauty, clarity, divinity.

White color (silver) - purity, constancy, wisdom, innocence. [1] .
