In 2009, the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens organized a retrospective of the artist called "Beyond Silence". The exhibition featured large-scale works created since 1990 . Large frontal portraits , painted with great realism, depict people immersed in themselves. These images of people refer to the Fayum portrait , which inspired Kami. The exhibition also featured works in various media from the Endless Prayers series. Fragments from Persian, Arabic and Hebrew texts and from the poems of the Persian mystic poet Jalaluddin Rumi comprise a series of works referring to Sufi mysticism, Dervish dance, Islamic architecture, Byzantine symbols.
