Career

São Paulo

Fabio Simplicio started playing football, playing on the streets of his hometown of Sao Paulo . There he was noticed by the scouts of the São Paulo club, who invited the young player to him. He played for a long time in the youth team, speaking with Kaka and Julio Baptista , who became his friends [1] [2] [3] [4] . In 1999, the main team of São Paulo, having spent an unsuccessful season, was forced to get rid of most of the club's midfielders: Beto , Edmilson , Wagner and Marcelinho . The club’s coaching staff relied on the talented young players of the team, Simplicio, Kaka and Baptista [5] .

In his first season, Simplicio spent 25 matches and scored 5 goals, winning the Sao Paulo State Championship with the team. In the next two years, he spent 85 matches and scored 8 goals. In 2003, Kaka and Baptista left for Europe , and Simplicio decided to stay at home. In 2003 and 2004, he played 48 matches in the Brazilian Championship , and also held 11 meetings in the Copa Libertadores 2004 , where São Paulo reached the semifinals.

Parma

In 2004, Arrigo Sacchi , the head coach of the Italian Parma , watched the players in Brazil. There he noticed the game of a football player and invited him to his club. The deal cost Parma nothing, since the midfielder ended the contract with São Paulo, and with the signing of a new one he delayed [5] [6] . He made his debut in Italy on September 22, 2004 in a Serie A match with Bologna , in which Parma lost 1: 2. In his first season, he spent 46 matches and scored 4 goals, including 9 games in the UEFA Cup . The following season, Simplicio scored 11 goals, of which 10 goals in the Italian championship, which attracted the attention of the grandees of Italian football [7] .

Palermo

In the summer of 2006, Simplicio was bought by the Palermo club for 5.5 million euros [8] , signing a contract for 4 years with a salary of 700 thousand euros per year [9] [10] . In his first season at the club, Simplicio spent 41 matches and scored 7 goals, of which 5 in the Italian championship. In the next 2 seasons, Simplicio did not score less than 5 goals. But the Brazilian brought the most benefit as the architect of attacks and the handler, organizing the team’s game [11] .

On February 1, 2009, Simplicio held the 100th match with Palermo, but his club lost 0-1 to Genoa in this game. In the 2009/2010 season, Simpliso’s place at the base was questioned, he was replaced by a new football player, Argentine Javier Pastore . However, the head coach of the team Walter Zenga was able to find a place on the field for both players. In January 2010, Simplicio announced that he wanted to leave Palermo at the end of the season [12] due to unsuccessful negotiations regarding the extension of the contract [13] .

Roma

On June 1, 2010, Simplicio, in the status of a free agent, signed a contract for 3 years with Roma with a salary of 1.1 million euros per year [14] .
