Features
- Advanced Access Control System
- Adamantix uses a reliable and flexible RSBAC access control system (English) instead of the standard one in UNIX , which is not able to protect the target system in case of compromise of the superuser account .
- Built-in buffer overflow protection
- Adamantix was the first distribution to have buffer overflow protection integrated into the kernel and compiler .
- Flexible security policies
- Adamantix presents a ready-made and easy-to-use security policy . It requires only one command to download and activate it. After that, Adamantix works like a regular Unix-like operating system .
- High performance and effective security features
- The Adamantix kernel was compiled with support for SSP (English) , XFS , loop- AES , it added a PaX security patch , an MS module (Malware Scan) with support for ClamAV , transparent proxy and MPPE are included, as well as a number of other options. [3]
Adamantix officially supports the use of some of its features for other distributions. This is expressed in the publication of support packages for RSBAC , ArX , Chicken Scheme (English) with libraries , PaXtest for Debian and Ubuntu . [four]
Weaknesses
- The complexity of installation and configuration.
- Unfriendly interface.
Project Status
Currently, the fate of Adamantix is uncertain. The official website of the project was closed in 2007, and shortly before that, on the main page there was a request for visitors to leave their signature in the petition to protect a certain Paris who went to jail for driving without a license. [5] Adamantix is currently used in the Debian Hardened project. [6]
