This article is about the nominal prize of the Government of St. Petersburg. For the prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences, see the A. Krylov Prize .

The A. N. Krylov Prize of the Government of St. Petersburg is an award awarded by the Committee for the Prize Award of the Government of St. Petersburg for outstanding scientific results in the field of technical sciences. [1] The award is named in honor of Alexei Nikolaevich Krylov - the founder of the ship theory, the author of many works on the theory of magnetic and gyro compasses , artillery , mechanics , mathematics and astronomy .

The award was established at a joint meeting of the Government of St. Petersburg and the Presidium of the St. Petersburg Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in June 1999.

The tradition of announcing the names of the laureates on the eve of the City Day ( May 27 ) began.
