Primorsk (until 1946, Fischhausen , German: Fischhausen ) is a city in the Baltic Municipal District of the Kaliningrad Region of Russia (in 2005-2008 - an urban-type settlement ).

History
German period (until 1945)
It was founded in 1268 as the city of Fischhausen. In the castle of Fischhausen in 1618, the dumb duke Albert Friedrich died. As a result, Johann Sigismund united Prussia with Brandenburg . Fishhausen since 1818 was a district center [2] . He had a coat of arms: a shield on which the bishop's staff crosses with the sword of the knight of the order (Zemland coat of arms), under them was a fish head up.
Soviet period (until 1991)
Since 1945, part of the USSR . In 1947, it was renamed Primorsk, a new name was given by location on the shore of the Kaliningrad Gulf. In 1946 - 1963 he was part of the Primorsky district (with a center in the city of Zelenogradsk) and Zelenogradsky district.
In 1963, the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR by its decree transferred the city of Primorsk to the subordination of the Svetlovsky City Council.
In 1953, the City Council of Workers' Deputies was formed in Primorsk. Since 1977, it became known as the Council of People's Deputies and lasted until 1994 . Executive power in the city was carried out by the Executive Committee of the City Council. The chairmen of the executive committee worked [2] :

Russian period (since 1992)
With the formation of the district, a city administration appeared in Primorsk, the leaders of which were G.N. Grigorenko (1994-2001) and A.N. Mamaev (2001-2005) [2] .
In 1994, the regional authorities decided to establish the Baltic City District and introduced the city of Primorsk into its composition. Until 2005, it had the status of a city, but, due to a decrease in the population, it was again transformed into an urban-type settlement as part of the Baltic City District .
In 2008, a law was adopted by the Kaliningrad Region on the transformation of the Baltic City District into a municipal district and on the creation of three municipalities on its territory, including the Primorsky urban settlement . At the same time, Primorsk was returned the status of the city [3] .
Geography
The city is located on the shores of the Kaliningrad Gulf of the Baltic Sea , 37 km from Kaliningrad . Railway station Primorsk-Novy on the line Baltiysk - Kaliningrad. The Primorskaya River flows through Primorsk .

The climate of the city is transitional to marine. Winter is shorter and milder, and summer is cooler than in mainland areas. A sufficiently large amount of precipitation falls during the year. Transport
Primorsk-Novy railway station (as of 2018, the status has been lowered to a stop) on the Baltiysk - Kaliningrad line . It was previously also connected by a railway line to Svetlogorsk via Yantarny (dismantled). This road was built in the German period.
Highway A-193 Kaliningrad-Baltiysk and A-192 Baltiysk - Svetlogorsk pass through Primorsk.
Architecture and Attractions
In the vicinity are the ruins of the Fischhausen castle , as well as the German military cemetery, who died during the 1st World War and the burial place of Soviet soldiers who died during the 2nd World War. From a distance, the observation tower of a German construction dominating the village is visible - one of the most noteworthy old structures.

In 2008, elections were held in the city Council of Deputies, and now the head of the city is the chairman of the Council of Deputies [1].
Military Presence
Military units of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy are deployed in the city, such as: a ship-based station, a separate naval engineering battalion, and a communications base.

Wilhelm Wien, Nobel laureate in physics , was born in Fishhausen in 1864 .
Dietrich von Saucken (May 16, 1892 - September 27, 1980) is a German tank general (1944), the last of 27 awarded with the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds.
July 6, 1989 Nikita Burmistrov was born - a Russian footballer, striker and midfielder.
