History and Celebration
“Rear Day of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” was approved by Order of the Minister of Defense of Russia No. 225, dated May 7 , 1998 .
The choice of the day of celebration of this date is not accidental.
Despite the fact that the history of the rear units begins on February 18, 1700 , when the Emperor of the Russian Empire Peter the Great signed the Decree "On the management of all grain stocks of military people to Okolnichy Yazykov, with his name on this part as General Proviant, " the actual self-determination of the rear forces Armed forces of Russia occurred on August 1, 1941 . It was then that I.V. Stalin put his signature on the order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR S.K. Timoshenko No. 0257 "On the organization of the Main Directorate of Logistics of the Red Army ..." . This document united the headquarters of the head of the rear, the road department and the inspection of the head of the rear of the Red Army, the VOSO Directorate, the Main Quartermaster's Office, the Fuel Supply Department, the Sanitary and Veterinary Directorate under a single command, for which the post of the head of the rear of the Red Army was introduced. The deputy chief of the USSR Defense Lieutenant General A. V. Khrulev was appointed the first chief of logistics in the Red Army. According to the plan of the “leader of the peoples,” leading under the unified command of the entire set of supply, medical, and transport structures was to efficiently establish the complex process of rear support for the Red Army. Also, a new post of chief of rear was introduced on all fronts and armies [2] .
On July 29, 2000, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On the 300th anniversary of the Rear Services of the Armed Forces,” the text of which says: “Given the importance of rear support for the army and navy , noting the military services to the Fatherland of veterans and personnel of the Rear Services of the Armed Forces and in connection with with its 300th anniversary, I decide: To establish a memorable day - the 300th anniversary of the Rear Services of the Armed Forces and to celebrate it on August 1, 2000 ” [3] .
The Minister of Defense of Russia A.E. Serdyukov congratulating the personnel and veterans of the Logistics of the Armed Forces of Russia said the following: " ... the rear of the Armed Forces is still a reliable material basis for the combat readiness of the army and navy, it is able to continue to effectively solve the tasks set by the Supreme Commander The Armed Forces and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation ” [4] .
