The area of urban subordination ( Chinese р 辖区 п , pinyin : shìxiáqū , pall .: Shisyatsyu ) or just the district ( Chinese р п , pinyin : qū , pall .: Qu ) is the county level administrative unit in China. Previously, they were areas consisting only of urban development. However, in the 1980s, in the PRC, districts began to be transformed into urban districts - thus, not only districts, but also counties , autonomous counties and city counties became parts of the "cities". In parallel with this (especially after 1990), counties and city counties began to be transformed into districts. Therefore, today the districts are often no different from the counties - they also include villages, villages and farmland.
There are also national areas of urban subordination - a type of area of urban subordination created for national minorities. Currently, there are 4 national districts of urban subordination: 1 in Heilongjiang and 3 in Henan .
