Construction History
The destroyer "Persistent" was laid down on April 7, 1988 at the plant No. 190 named after A. A. Zhdanov in St. Petersburg (building number 876), launched on January 19, 1991 [1] .
The crew of the ship was formed on February 15, 1992 ; the crew was checked in on the ship on August 29 [1] .
On December 30, 1992, the ship was taken into combat service of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy [1] .
On March 27, 1993, the Russian Navy flag was hoisted on a ship [1] .
During the construction period, the ship was included in the 13th brigade of ships under construction and under repair (13 brströmk) of the Leningrad Naval Base , for the test period it was included in the 76th missile ship brigade of the 12th missile ship division , then it was transferred to 128th brigade of surface ships ( Baltiysk ) of the 12th division of surface ships [1] [2] .
Service History
The destroyer "Persistent" was assigned to the combat forces of the Baltic Fleet of Russia on December 30, 1992 . Included in the 128th brigade of surface ships ( Baltiysk ) [2] .
April 10, 1993 arrived at the port of registry, in the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region . On June 16, he left the base on a campaign, and became the first Russian ship to make the passage through the Kiel Sea Canal [3] . From June 19 to 26 he paid a visit to the German city of Kiel for the Kiel Week, a sailing festival. From June 28 to July 2, he flew under the flag of Rear Admiral V.P. Komoyedov in Wilhelmshaven (Germany). On July 7, the ship returned to the base in Baltiysk.
Since 1994, the ship’s chief has been the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation [3] .
In 1994, the destroyer participated in competitive competitions for the prize of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy , during which they repelled five target missiles (one target was not counted). From July 4 to July 24, 1994 he paid a visit to Rouen , visited the French port of Le Havre , and participated in the Freedom Squadron festival.
From April 30 to July 20, 1995 the ship underwent dock repair, after which he participated in a parade on the Neva [1] .
On June 23, 1996, “Persistent” was visited by President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin . In the same year, the destroyer participated in the joint Baltops-96 naval exercises of the naval forces of the NATO countries with a visit to Eckenferd ( Germany ) from July 6-17 . From July to August, the “Persistent” took part in the assembly campaign: the exercises to cover the landing, for the first time as part of the ship’s strike group (KUG), repelled a raid of seven target missiles from Cape Taran at once. At the end of September he went to sea, from October 10 to 13, paid a visit to Cherbourg ( France ), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of his visit to the city of Nicholas II . According to the results of 1996, the destroyers "Persistent" and " Restless " were recognized as the best in the Baltic Fleet in artillery preparation, and "Persistent" - the best ship of the Russian Navy .
February 17, 1997 the ship went to sea under the flag of Rear Admiral Vasily Apanovich. From March 15 to 18, he participated in the international exhibition of arms and military equipment IDEX-1997 in Abu Dhabi , on his way back he visited Simonstown (April 2-6) and Cape Town on the days of the 75th anniversary of the South African Navy . During the visit, the destroyer was visited by the President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela [1] . Having covered 19,800 nautical miles during the trip (72 days of sailing), Nastoyashchiy returned to the base in Baltiysk on April 30 of the same year [1] .
September 4, 1997 the ship "Persistent" was visited by the Minister of Defense of Russia , Marshal of the Russian Federation I. D. Sergeev . Later, in October, the destroyer provided tests for a new diesel submarine [1] . At the end of the year, “Persistent” took first place in the Navy in artillery and anti-aircraft training.
The following year, the ship participated in the Baltops-98 exercises. July 26, 1998 , on the Day of the Navy , "Persistent" was visited by the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy V.I. Kuroedov . According to the results of 1998, the ship was awarded the prize of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy for air defense and artillery preparation, the destroyer was declared the best ship of the Russian Navy.
In May 1999, "Persistent" docked at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad . From September 21 to November 18, 1999 he was in Kronstadt to train the Chinese crew. At the end of the year, as part of the KMG, he won a prize in fire training.
On February 8, 2000, the destroyer "Persistent" was visited by the Commander-in-Chief of the Bundesmarine, Dirk Horten [1] .
In July 2008, the ship made a voyage along the Baltic Sea with calls to Sweden , Finland , Denmark , and Poland [3] .
In 2009, the destroyer participated in the West-2009 operational-strategic exercise of the joint Russian - Belarusian operational-strategic military exercises held in Belarus [3] .
July 31, 2011
July 31, 2011 , on the Day of the Navy , Russian President Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev visited the destroyer at the main naval base of the Baltic Fleet in the city of Baltiysk ( Kaliningrad Region ) [4] .
Currently, the destroyer "Persistent" is the flagship of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy . For twenty years of combat service, the destroyer was at sea for a total of about two years and traveled more than 70,000 nautical miles [5] .
In recent years, the flagship of the Baltic Fleet did not go on long hikes, undergoing restoration of technical readiness in Baltiysk. In 2015, he occasionally participated in naval events: in March he went to sea during a sudden check of the combat readiness of the Western Military District , and in July he took part in a parade in honor of Navy Day. According to the procurement data of “33 ship repair plant” serving the Baltic Fleet’s ships, the “Persistent” repairs the systems of the main power plant (boiler turbine), life support equipment, and armament of the ship [6] .
In 2019, the destroyer must undergo a scheduled repair, during which the propulsion system will be replaced and a number of ship life support systems will be repaired [7] .

Operational and tactical tasks
The destroyer "Persistent" project 956-A is designed for [3] :
- suppression of ground targets, as well as anti-airborne defense (PDO) objects, accumulations of manpower and enemy equipment;
- fire support of the landing in the area of landing, air defense (air defense) of landing ships and transports;
- destruction of surface ships and landing and landing equipment of the enemy;
- patrolling and performing military service together with other forces of the fleet.
Orthodox Camping Temple
On February 20, 2015 , according to the press service of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy , the destroyer Nastoyashchiy found an Orthodox marching church [15] .
The solemn ceremony of the transfer of the temple was held in Baltiysk . The rite of consecration was conducted by the rector of the St. George’s Cathedral of the Baltic Fleet, assistant commander of the formation of surface ships for working with believing military personnel Archimandrite Sofroniy [15] .
A marching temple, made according to all Orthodox canons, will be used during the ship's launch at sea, and various exercises. All elements of the temple, including the altar icon , folding iconostasis , throne and antimins , can be quickly deployed and packed by only one person [15] .
