Economy Epos
In 1925, James Aubert founded his watch workshop in the Joux Valley, in the world center for the production of mechanical watches. He is engaged in the refinement and complication of even then known mechanisms, such as Valjoux and Landeron, commissioned by various Swiss companies. Mr. Aubert devoted his entire life to creating new watch movements, the following watch discoveries were born in his workshop: a regulator indicating the phases of the moon, a power reserve indicator, a one-minute tourbillon, a large date indicator, etc. Later, he is looking for like-minded people in order to transfer the company to reliable hands. And he finds them in the person of his nephew Jean Aubert and son-in-law Jean Fillon, who to this day is the leading engineer in the company.
In the "quartz" 80s, heavy for the Swiss industry, many manufactories do not withstand competition and are closed, some reorienting their production to the production of quartz watches. The brand owes its rebirth to the skilled watchmaker Peter Hofer. In 1983, having taken the name "Montres EPOS", as a real enthusiast, he begins to produce watches already under his own brand, and the developments obtained earlier form the basis. In addition, Hofer was a sensitive and insightful businessman: in anticipation of the loss of unique mechanisms, he begins to buy disappearing copies for a pittance and create his own collection. Rare mechanisms such as: A.Shild, Peseux7046 / 7040, ValJoux, ETA 2512 and others, some of which were produced only until 1966, fell into his storekeepers. It was he who reoriented Epos to release watches with rare mechanisms, complication. To this day, EPOS considers its use for watches of different mechanisms, their refinement, complication, decoration and production of only mechanical watches.
In 2002, following the watchmaking traditions, he inherited his business in the safe hands of Ursula Foster, from the family of hereditary watchmakers, and her husband Tamdi Chong, who has extensive experience in the manufacture of mechanical watches, who had previously worked for over 30 years in the Swatch Group . It was these people who breathed new life into the brand and made it the way we see it today, while preserving those traditions that were passed down from generation to generation by their predecessors.
In 2013, the quartz collection was first presented. This happened at Baselworld .
