History
In 1990-1991 , as a result of the return by the Georgian leadership of the historical toponyms of the settlements of the Bolnisi Municipality, the names of almost all Azerbaijani- populated villages underwent toponymic changes. [eight]

Bolnisi Cross
Bolnisi is associated with the cross, which bears the name of the Bolnisi Cross ( Georgian. ბოლნური ჯვარი , Bolnuri jvari). The Bolnisi cross is an isosceles cross drawn by segments of a circle with expanding sleeves. Crosses of this shape are usually enclosed in a round frame. It is believed that such a cross dates back to the reign of the Roman emperor Constantine the Great (306–337), who in 313 admitted the free confession of Christianity by the Milan Edict. In Georgia it is used everywhere along with the cross of St. Nino .
