History
The history of this Swedish band began on May 12, 1998, when Freddie Persson and Jake Fredon sat in the car and listened to music in the style of “ Helloween ”, “ Iron Maiden ” and “ Judas Priest ”. It was then that they came up with the idea to organize their team, continuing the tradition of melodic heavy metal . By that time, Jake was already playing with the Vapid death group, which included the talented drummer Gustav. The guys begged him to join the new project, but it remained to find another guitarist. The problem was resolved quickly, and the vacancy was taken by another mutual friend, Eric Soderman (by the way, also a member of “Vapid”). It was harder with a bass player, so Freddie had to take on these responsibilities. Previously, he only played the guitar, but after several rehearsals he mastered the bashuha.
Soon, “Nostradameus” took part in two rock actions held in their city, one of which was noticed by Magnus Lundbock, head of the label “Gain Productions”. Magnus asked if the band had any demo, and, having received a negative response from the surprised musicians, suggested that they work in his studio. As a result, in December 1998, the first film was already ready, which the musicians sent to five German recording companies. A couple of weeks later, a positive response came from AFM Records , with which the contract was signed in April 1999. During the spring and summer of 1999, the band prepared the material for their first album. And in November, "Nostradameus" started studio work. It was decided to take notes in the Helsinki Finnvox Studio. The result, entitled “Words Of Nostradameus”, has received excellent reviews. . But by that time, Gustav and Erik decided to leave the group, deciding that it takes them too much time. Not very upset, Freddie and Jake began to look for new partners. The first person they contacted was Michael Aberg, a talented guitar player who played in a band called MMM. Having secured his consent to join Nostradameus, the group continued to search for a drummer.
Soon after, Jake was struck by an ad that “the drummer wants to take part in some kind of hard rock or metal project.” This guy was Jess Lindskog, who enthusiastically accepted the offer of friends. The updated quartet took up rehearsals, but it turned out that there was not enough bass player. In the studio, Freddie, of course, could combine two duties, but at concerts it was hard for him. Then Jess came up with the idea to invite the team of his longtime friend Thomas Antonsson, who already played bass in different groups. Five of them started the further work on the second album “The Prophet Of Evil”. The disc appeared on the shelves in August 2001 and received very good reviews in the press. “Nostradameus” gathered on a European tour in the company of “ Edguy ”, but here, for personal reasons, Lindskog left. This time the group was rescued by Thomas, who nominated his friend Esko Salou. In the renewed line-up, the team went on tour, with great success. In the summer of 2002, sessions of the third album began, which turned out to be somewhat rougher and heavier than their predecessors.
The "The Third Prophecy" music tour was held at HammerFall and Masterplan . Somewhere around this time, Jake and Freddie fouled the side project “Wiz”, but this did not prevent the release of the fourth full-length film, “Hellbound”. After its release, it turned out that Persson decided to combine work in a group with training at a police academy. Michael went over to another project (“ Destiny ”), and during the “Pathway” sessions, Lennart Specht officially replaced him.
