Doi Suthep ( Thai ดอย สุ เทพ ) is a mountain in the vicinity of Chiang Mai .

Height above sea level - 1601 m. Geologically composed of granite . Doi Suthep is part of the Loylar Range . Together with the neighboring peak, Doipui (1685 m) is part of the Doi Suthep Doipui National Park .
At the peak of Doi Suthep , located 15 km from the center of Chiang Mai, in 1383 [2] Wat Phrahat Doi Suthep [3] was built. This place is sacred to many Thais . According to legend, it was here that the white elephant died, after which the construction of cotton wool began [4] .
