Museum History
The Estonian Museum of Art was founded on November 17, 1919 , but only in 1921 it received its first permanent building - the 18th-century Kadriorg Palace in Kadriorg Park. The palace building and the adjoining park are made in the style of northern Baroque [1] . In 1929, the palace was nationalized for reconstruction and reconstruction in the residence of the president . During these years, the Estonian Art Museum was located on several temporary squares, in 1946 it was again housed in the Kadriorg Palace.

The museum is open as an exception on December 30 from 11.00 to 18.00 and December 31 from 11.00 to 15.00.
The museum is closed:
- May-September - Mon;
- October-April - Mon-Tue;
- on public holidays.
The museum also closes three hours earlier on February 23, June 22, December 23 and 31.

Branches
In the late 1970s and 1980s , the first branches of the Estonian Museum of Art were opened. By 2008, the museum had five branches. On March 31, 2008, after twenty-four years of operation, the branch of the Estonian Art Museum, the Kristjan Raud House Museum in Nõmme, was closed.
Currently, the Estonian Museum of Art has four branches:
- Kadriorg Art Museum and Mikkel Museum (located in Kadriorg Palace and Mikkel House)
- Adamson Eric Museum
- Kumu Art Museum (the main building of the Estonian Museum of Art)
- Museum and Concert Hall Niguliste
